Bookshelf / Fashion Sewing Books

I've been dabbling with the idea of making some of my own clothes and accessories this summer.  I often buy secondhand skirts and dresses and modify the hem or the neckline, but I have never made a garment from scratch.  There are a ton of awesome books out there that cover the basics and get into some of the more specialized techniques.  Here are some of the ones on my wishlist right now.
  1. The Sewing Machine Attachment Handbook by Charlene Phillips - $12.41
  2. The Colette Guide to Sewing Knits by Alyson Clair - $19.60
  3. Feminine Wardrobe: Town, Party, Resort by Jinko Matsumoto - $14.46
  4. The Vintage Pattern Selector by Jo Barnfield - $20.59
  5. The Sewtionary by Tasia St. Germaine - $21.77
  6. Adornments by Myra Callan - $19.12
  7. Fabrics A to Z by Dana Willard - $16.66
  8. Sewing in a Straight Line by Brett Bara - $17.80
  9. Amy Butler's Style Stitches by Amy Butler - $20.33

  1. Making my own clothes from scratch is a dream of mine! I've been taking sewing lessons to get the basics, but still feel like I may be a long way off from anything complicated! Glad to see another NE Ohio blogger - excited to meet you on May 10th at the thrift challenge! -♥- Rachel (For the Birds)
