Quilt with Karen Nyberg on the Internation Space Station

So this week I ran across a pretty cool project and thought it would be perfect to share with all of you.  Astronaut Karen Nybery is an avid crafter and quilter on earth, and when she went to the International Space Station, she took a small sewing kit and some fabric with her.  The goal was to create a quilt block during her time in space.  In the video she explains the unique challenges she faces quilting in zero gravity.

Here is the other cool part... she is inviting you to create a star themed quilt block to submit.  Her block will be joined with others at the 40th International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX.  You can find all the rules and details here.  Blocks must be received by August 1st.

If you choose to submit a block I would love to see yours!  I'll probably make a few and then need help choosing which one to send in.  I'll be sure to post progress along the way.
