Quilted / Zig Zag Runner in Hearty Good Wishes

I finished a fun project last weekend that I have been dying to share with you.  A few weeks ago I picked up the Fons & Porter Zig Zag Runner pattern.  I had a few single charm packs that weren't enough material for a full quilt but would be perfect for a table runner.  This pattern seemed like the perfect contemporary and quick solution.  And it was.  I worked on this casually throughout a weekend (pieced on Saturday morning, sandwiching on Saturday night over a movie and quilting on Sunday morning) and the materials ended up costing about $20 total (including the pattern).

For this runner I did modify the pattern a little.  The Hearty Good Wishes line from Moda Fabrics was crying out for nautical triangles, so I added the extra step of splitting the squares and piecing them back together.  It added about an hour, but I think in the end it was worth it.

The pattern was clear and simple and perfect for a beginning quilter.  I backed it with simple, cheap unbleached muslin.  I coordinates perfectly with the patterns.  I used seafoam green thread on the top and white thread in the bobbin.

    1. I think it would look great on a larger scale as a small quilt or pillow cover using a similar triangular pattern. It lends itself well to the nautical prints.
